Our superpower at FireStarter I.D.E.A.S. is our ability to galvanize women into a formidable economic force for generational wealth creation. We draw inspiration from the traditional community savings practices to organize women into legal economic entities. These entities are structured to profitably participate in the mainstream economy. We believe in the financial discipline and commitment to delayed gratification which women have built over the years participating in community savings programmes. Our services are uniquely designed to support the woman on her leadership and entrepreneurship journey. We partner with each woman to specifically help her overcome barriers to success, such as lack of capital, limited access to information and markets. Whether you are thinking of starting a business or grow an existing business we are her to support you. Contact us to schedule a complimentary initial meeting.
Our signature Margins to Mainstream program works with women and young women to accelerate and deepen their participation in local, national and global markets. Our experience has proven that despite lacking resources and capital to launch businesses, an increasing number of women, specifically Black Immigrant women have started a business in recent years. Yet, many of these businesses remain precarious and on the margins of the economy. The Margins to Mainstream program is uniquely designed to support women and young women who are ready to move their business from the shadows to the centre of world economies. Recognizing that one of the greatest barriers to entry is access to capital, we use a familiar tool from the women's toolbox - the community savings! We take the community savings practice to the next level by integrating systems and policies that allow for greater support for the business and stronger protection for women participating in our clients' ventures.
At FireStarter we create a pathway for women to start-up and scale viable and sustainable businesses across the world as sole proprietors or in partnership with others. Utilizing our Margins to Mainstream curriculum and tools, we connect women with business partners . When women partner with fellow trained and pre-screened potential business partner(s), they raise capital that meets the financial, governance, management and operational needs to launch a company that is structured and supported to thrive. We specialize in transforming informal women’s groups into profitable and sustainable business entities. Our office is strategically located in Toronto’s financial district, signaling to our clients that they too belong in the financial districts of major cities in every country.
Our services are: (should we move this to the "what we do section?"
Margins to Mainstream in International Development has been designed specifically for non-governmental organizations and not-for profits seeking to decolonize women’s economic empowerment interventions.
